“ The Holy Spirit so powerfully worked upon my hearers pricking their hearts and melting them into such a flood of tears that one man said he never saw anything like this before. God is truly with me. Adored by His unmerited goodness, I find His grace quickening me more and more every day. My understanding is more enlightened, my affections more inflamed and my heart is more full of love toward God and Man.” While those words were written by a man a long time ago we often wonder is it possible to have that same kind experience in our lives and in our church today. Is there anything that we can do than can help us return to a sense of freshness in our daily walk with our precious Lord?
I have been encouraged over the past few days as I see a sense of God working among us. No we are not at a stage of perfection but I am convinced that God has great things in store for us. Revival comes when people have been earnestly seeking God’s face. They are praying, confessing their faults to one another and praying that God will open up doors for great things to happen. Throughout the year we have a variety of activities going on in our church, but that is not the true test of revival. It is when people come to grips that God is actively involved in their lives not just counting the numbers ot people who show up, but people who desperately need that love of God in their lives not just on Sunday but throughout the week. It is when we see people not just as numbers, but people who desperately need the love of God in their lives. We are believing that God is calling us to do far greater things than we thought we could do or imagine. Are we willing to allow God to change their perspective on how to take the timeless principles and communicate them in new ways. What worked a year ago may not be what will work today. But most of all it begins when you and I say……God I want to be your servant…... teach me and use me for your Glory.
Over the next few weeks during our morning worship hour you will be hearing from me and others not only what we would like to see happen in our church but in our own personal lives with God. I pray that on those days you will seriously ponder what is being said but also may those days be a time of laughter, of smiles and joy. May our days ahead remind us that we are seeking God to mold us into His image. When we leave the church on those special days I pray that we will all rejoice and acknowledge that ”God is at Work among Us.”
In Christ,
